Awards honor outstanding consultant, achievement in creativity & innovation

CLAREMONT, CA—The Society for the Advancement of Consulting® (SAC), a leading association of global consulting professionals, announced today that nominations are now open for its an annual award honoring consultants who have advanced the profession in the previous year.

The Corrie Shanahan Memorial Consulting Awards are named in memory of longtime SAC member Corrie Shanahan, who passed away in 2019. Corrie Shanahan was an expert in rapidly strengthening organizational performance, productivity, and corporate culture.

Two Award Categories

The awards are in two categories: Outstanding consultant of the year, and the consultant who displays outstanding creativity and innovation. This year, awards may be given to more than one individual who has shown outstanding performance.

“Consultants have had to rapidly evolve and pivot to best support clients during the business disruptions of the past year,” said Executive Director Lisa Anderson. “In addition to recognizing outstanding achievement in consulting, we believe it’s important to identify and reward those who have used creativity and innovation to stand out during this time period—either in their own business model, or in their ability to positively impact their clients.”

To be eligible, individuals must be independent business consultants who generate most of their income by working directly with clients, and they must be members in good standing of SAC.

Factors that will be considered in evaluating applicants for the Consultant of the Year will include degree of client success, innovation, advocacy and growth through association, and resilience. Applicants for Creativity & Innovation Award will be evaluated on a consulting innovation or the development of new intellectual property they’ve applied to their own business or to client support. This innovation could benefit clients, the consultant’s business, or both, and it may be completely new, or a bold new take on an existing best practice.

The call for nominations is open now through April 30, 2022 Nomination forms and applications can be found on the SAC website.

A committee of SAC members, led by chair Vanessa Khan and representing a variety of consulting specialties from four different countries, will review applications and determine the winners who best meet the established criteria.

Previous honorees include Constance Dierickx, Smyrna, Georgia; Andrew Hollo, Melbourne, Australia; Gene Moran, Bradenton, Florida Amy Segami, Chicago, Illinois, and Amy Showalter, Cincinnati, Ohio.

“There is such a wealth of talent and experience in SAC on a global basis,” said SAC Executive Director Linda Popky. “We encourage all qualified SAC members to apply for the appropriate award, or to nominate someone they think would be a well-deserving recipient.”

The awards will be presented at SAC’s Fall Annual Meeting, to be held October 11-12, 2022.

Independent consultants may join SAC between now and April 25th to be considered for the award.
